The Diagnosis
In January of 2023 Nick had a tooth pulled. 3 days after that he thought that maybe it was infected because his right side (kidney area) was hurting and he felt sick. He was put on antibiotics and he felt better a few days later. Friday 4/21/23 he was at work and feeling the same way. Saturday morning he was doing work around the ranch and was in too much pain. That evening we went to the ER.
We got the news Saturday, April 22, 2023, blood work, urine test, and CT scan were done to find out what was going on, to our surprise the results were the dreaded C word.
Nick has cancer in his right kidney, a 9cm mass, a bacterial infection in the left kidney, tumor thrombus in the vein connecting the kidney and liver and he has an enlarged lymph nodes in that area as well. He received several biopsies, another CT scan, and an MRI.
Getting results back from Cottage is like almost impossible. We have not talked to an oncologist. They will not assign one until the biopsy results come back. The urologist recommended we go to UCLA for removal of the right kidney along with a Vena Caval Thrombectomy which can be very risky. During the hurry up and wait period, we have decided to take a natural approach in rebuilding his immune system and get his body prepared for what is to come at UCLA. Being that we have had so many loved ones all lost their battles to cancer doing it the traditional way, we decided to try a different approach.
